JISSEN in Japanese means 'REAL FIGHT'. Technically Jissen Karate is a mix of Kickboxing and Judo techniques and tactics. It is not an organization but rather a realistic approach to combat techniques and tactics. In Jissen Karate we use western boxing punching techniques (jab, crosses, overhands, hooks, uppercuts, bolo punches) and defensive techniques (blocks, slips, bobbing and weaving) as well as elbow strikes. Kicking techniques are based on Kickboxing and Kyokushin Karate such as front, roundhouse, knee and spinning kicks.
We use Judo throws and sweeps
(especially lower ones) such as Tai Otoshi, Harai Goshi, Hane Goshi, O Goshi, sweeps like O Soto Gari, Ko Soto Gari, O Uchi Gari, Ko Uchi Gari, etc.
Our program starts with learning boxing punches and defenses, kickboxing kicks, fundamentals of judo such as ukemi (falls), tai sabaki (body control),
kumikata (grips), nage waza (throws).
For the safety of the participants we use protective equipment such as grilled headgear, mma type of gloves, shin and foot guards and groin cups.
